Happier Day!

Today has been busy, but it went more smoothly than yesterday. M woke up in a great mood and began a board game while I was still in bed and trying to wake up. He moved me round the board as well as himself, and all I had to do was join in the charades (odd Tarzan based game we got in a charity shop).

Maths went better today. We got through the 4 and 6 times tables with a lot less angst than yesterday thank goodness! Phonogram review also worked well, we got further through orally and included a lot more of the 2 letter phonograms. M was fine with writing the phonograms today too and did really well.

A and M went out to get haircuts and dropped me off at the mum and baby group on the way. It was the first time I’d been but everyone was friendly. I don’t know how long I’ll stick with it though, I can’t be doing with all the paranoia and “my baby’s on banana now” conversations. I suppose I feel so much more relaxed this time around that I find it an effort to sympathise properly, and want to tell everyone to just go with the flow and respond to what their baby wants instead of fussing over routines and ounces and hours of sleep. It needn’t be that complicated!! I’ve suggested meeting lunchtine one day a week in the coffee shop so I can bring M and get lunch while chatting. I think some of the mums are wanting to find anything to do to fill their days, whereas I’m trying to squeeze more in. I’m not sure why?

I met up with A and M in the coffee shop for lunch and then we came back home and M and I did some stuff together about explorers. He has a book with info on Magellan and instructions to make a compass by magnetising a needle. So we read, looked at when Magellan’s voyage was in relation to English history on his timeline and where Portugal, Spain and the Spice Islands are, and made the compass. Geomags work really well for magnetising needles! We took photos and M uploaded one to his blog and I typed what he dictated to go with the pic. Afterwards he practiced his tap dancing again and we listened to a new beginning German CD.

After tea I took M out to Beavers. He went once before the summer holidays but then it was closed for the summer. He loved it and came out beaming and clutching his Beaver log book. He read snippets out to me on the drive home and we read the rest while he ate his supper. He says he’s going to do the IT badge after he’s invested, because he’s a computer expert, LOL.

It’s been far too warm and sticky again today. L was so tired this afternoon, but so hot even in just a nappy that he couldn’t settle for more than a few minutes.
