Rush around kind of a day
We abandoned all M’s “activities” this morning. If you can’t be flexible when you’re home edding, what’s the point of home ed? M didn’t get up til gone 8am and it took us ages to get breakfasted and dressed. We’d planned to open bank accounts this morning so we went into town in the rain and queued for ages in the Halifax. I didn’t realise opening a bank account was quite so involved, but I’m sure it was very educational LOL. After spending an hour in the bank we rushed round getting the other bits of shopping (mainly for M’s birthday cake decorations), because I needed to take L for his 8 week check at 1.30pm. I just made it on time, after bolting down some lunch in the coffee shop and leaving A & M there to chat while we were at the doctors.
Back home M continued drawing a detailed robot picture using some new watercolour pencils he got as a birthday gift. They are lovely and he spent ages drawing with them and blending the colours with a brush. He doesn’t choose to draw that often, but really enjoyed it today.
Then it was out again to M’s Musical Theatre class. Caught up with the other mums and grans there and showed L off. He kept everyone entertained in the waiting room for the 45 mins class, burbling and grinning at everyone. They appear to still be learning Zip a dee doo dah, which does my head in, but never mind. Why they can’t learn songs from musicals other than Disney I don’t know. Back in February they began learning Little People from Les Mis which is great. (Les Mis is my favourite musical, though trying to explain the story to M is very taxing). M learnt all the words the first week they had it, but some of the parents weren’t keen and said it was too hard (and they were shocked one of the words is “damn”). I suppose it’s not a well known tune and has alot of high notes and verses to learn, but at least it’s interesting. They ended up doing Bare Necessities for the Musical Theatre exam, which was wearing after a couple of repetitions.
After pizza for tea, A disappeared off out to watch a friend in a play locally, and I eventually got M off to bed and tried to keep L happy (tired and crotchety but not falling asleep). When A got back we worked on stuff for M’s birthday - still quite a bit to do tomorrow though.
