Frustrations

Are you ever in company where you don’t know people very well but you anticipate seeing them regularly for the next few years so you all need to get on, but you realise that on some things you are almost on different planets? At Church there are 2 older babies (including L), 2 newborns and another lady is pregnant. It’s only a small congregation too. We were chatting a bit over coffee after the service and 2 of the women were talking about how soon they could leave their babies with grandparents so they could go away for a long weekend. One was talking about a baby over a few months old (but still at an age where I’d be thinking what on earth will you do about breastfeeding - perhaps it’s so far from her expectations that she might still be doing it then?) but the other talked as though the sooner she could leave the baby the better. Perhaps she was joking but it didn’t sound like it. I find those kinds of conversations so difficult - kind of hard to think of anything positive to say to join in. Otherwise Church was good and M got playing with some other boys his age who are going to be home educated from now on - they just finished at school this week.

We decided that although we ought to stay in and do house stuff this afternoon we’d prefer to go out and get some fresh air so we went back to Gressenhall to show A around for a couple of hours. Next weekend we really need to get shelving up in M’s room and a few other jobs that require drilling the walls. They are rock solid, probably concrete, and the drill just makes hardly any impact so doing it is going to be a bit of a fight.

I have so many things I want to get done that it’s frustrating me. Most of them involve either concentrating to write things (so M and L need to be in bed and then I’m either too knackered or A wants me to spend time with him or both) or using equipment I don’t want L fiddling with. I want to sew a baby carrier and I have the fabric now but I need to find space to lay it out and use pins and the sewing machne. I have to post back the rented sling tomorrow and I’ve been using it loads. I’m aiming to make something like this which is a cross between a Mei Tai and a wrap.
