Strops, wasps and more Leonardo
I didn’t blog yesterday because we had an awful day. Well, it started out OK and went downhill fairly rapidly from lunchtime. In the morning we went out to baby signing class which I enjoyed, L was a bit tired and M wasn’t too bad once we got there, though he whinged about going. Then while I was making lunch M talked me into 15 mins of computer time and he started playing Sonic, but then refused to come off because he was part way through a level and it “wouldn’t save”. I got more and more irritated and M got more and more wound up with the game til he ended up in hysterics, lashed out and got himself banned off the computer til after the weekend. The rest of the afternoon he mostly sulked and in the evening he went to Beavers. I spent ages looking on eBay and Googling trying to find my sister a suitable birthday present (just so you know I’m making an effort Di!) and caught up on Lost which I’d videoed.
Today, with no free computer time for M, he has been in a slightly better mood. He’s done his maths and sounding and we’ve done loads of Leonardo stuff. We looked at The Last Supper, had a go at drawing using perspective lines, went through this game (which is excellent) and then made "paint" from some natural pigments.

L has roamed around, turned the printer on and off too many times to count, tried to dig up my tomato plants while I hung the washing out, scribbled on some paper and then on his feet with a biro and generally done his own thing. He’s just beginning to stand unaided, which gives him a whole new ability to reach further for things he’s not supposed to have, LOL. He’s coming up rashy on his arms and legs again - they seem to do better when I keep them covered but it’s just too warm.
We’ve also had a pest control bloke round checking to make sure we don’t have a wasp nest in the house today. It’s been a bit of an ongoing saga that was irritating me too much to blog about, but basically if we open M’s bedroom windows we get loads of wasps in, in fact we get them in between the secondary glazing even with the windows shut so are maybe coming in through a gap in the wall or something (unless they are hiding somewhere and pop out later) . M is terrified of wasps and I am not a whole lot better. We thought they must be nesting really close to the window and getting lost on their way back, but according to mr wasp man they don’t have nests at this time of year, it’s just the queens emerging from hibernation and looking for potential nesting sites. So I’m on to plan 2 now, which is to get some kind of netting to go over the windows while they are open to stop wasps getting in, otherwise M won’t play in his bedroom. It’s been so hot this week and sweltering with the windows shut upstairs.
