Bug Squishing Day

Went out to hang out washing in the back garden this morning and the lawn area was crawling with lots and lots of chafer bugs - yuck!

So M and I spent a good 15 mins going round and round the garden standing on any bugs we could see, before they mate and lay even more eggs. Not sure how successful we were but there were lots of squished bugs and the birds have had a feast and cleared them up!

Castle Acre Priory

Filed under: Home Ed, Days Out

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Merry and her girls at Castle Acre Priory. L was full of cold but seemed happy enough snuggled up on me and I tried out my new wrap. As we arrived it was raining steadily and we waited for Merry to turn up, listening to Great Expectations on the CD player at M’s request. We decided we may as well brave the weather and had a slightly damp picnic underneath a huge tree inside the grounds. There was much rushing around through wet grass and some damp legs and bottoms after clambering around the priory, but I think everyone enjoyed exploring and catching up with one another LOL. When we’d all had enough of exploring we went into the education centre where there were Medieval crafts and games laid on. M started playing 9 men’s morris, did some tile arranging, made a clay tile and a shield, tried a quill pen and generally looked at what was offered. L crawled around for a bit and kept making escape bids towards the door. I tried to chat to Merry, watch L and see what M was doing all at the same time.

We brought home a sheet for making a relic box and M has made it today and also made some bones and organs of various types to put in it LOL. He also brought home a dress a knight sheet so we’ve looked at that too.
