Ball Games
Yesterday I had a slight lie in with L (rough night with us both having colds) while A and M were up and off out first thing to get our rear seats back from Renault. There was a possible safety issue with the seatbelts (I’m not thinking about it!) and we had to drop the back side seats off to them on Friday for modification.
By the time they arrived home L and I were up and we all went out to M’s cricket practice. I stayed in the car watching M now and then from the far side of the field and doing some knitting. I’m trying out a pattern for shorts and was going to try some wool cover style for L, but the wool I got on eBay arrived with rather more of a pink tinge than A approves of. Anyway at the moment I’m trying them in some variegated acrylic DK to get an idea of the pattern and if they are OK I’ll just have to do some more wool shopping LOL.

While I knitted A took L for a walk round the shops and market and came back with a chocolate brownie for me - yum, what a great DH! When cricket finished we went to Tesco for grocery shopping and saw a cheap swingball set.

We’ve used it loads over the weekend and M loves it and keeps disappearing off outside to play again. Yesterday afternoon we played out in the back garden with it and then had a game of cricket in the back field - lovely family time in the sunshine. Then we emptied out one of the sheds and went through the boxes we hadn’t looked in since we moved and decided to chuck a few things out and found a few other bits we’d lost. We’ve got the kite and beach toys for next week now. L fiddled with anything he could pull out.

We also had a barbecue. I love our barbecues - we make several salads and marinate pork to do on skewers with peppers and mushrooms and we usually have Haloumi cheese too. Haloumi was just made for barbecueing!
Today has been good too. This morning we went to church then came home for a quick sandwich and went out again to a garden and food fair. It was very expensive to get in for what it was, but we looked round the plants and garden features and sampled lots of different things in the food tent. We couldn’t resist buying some more herbs so I must get that section of the garden planted up. In the food tent we bought dip mix, very yummy relish and jams and some sickly fudge. It started to rain so we came home again.
This evening we had an early tea because A was setting off for somewhere down south for the week with work. I installed Zoombinis on the computer in M’s bedroom and faffed about getting it working - it’s an old Win95 version and it was fussy about the display settings. Can’t complain though, we got it off Freecycle. So we eventually played that for a bit, L had a late nap and then it was M’s bedtime. We’ve just started reading Swallows and Amazons so I read him another chapter of that and then took a very wakeful and bouncy L out of the way so M could fall asleep. Both well asleep now though and I’m going to head off shortly because L is still very snotty and will probably wake hourly later on.
