Who’s Normal Anyway?

Tantrums & hassles but a few good bits too

Today didn’t start off to well. I was woken alot during the night, mostly by L coughing and snuffling and wanting to feed back to sleep, but also by M who had possibly had a bad dream. He got up about 6.15 and came in with me for a cuddle and at 6.45 I said he could go downstairs if he wanted. An hour later I woke back up and L was sat up wanting feeding and downstairs I could hear M losing it big time on a computer game. I finally got L settled back to sleep and came downstairs to order M off the computer and got lots of shouting and kicking out in return. Not sure if it was just a bad morning, a reaction to A being away or connected to him having a new homeopathic remedy before bed last night. Whatever, it wasn’t good.

Eventually we all got up and dressed and had breakfast. M looked at Neopets with me for a bit and flipped out again over the Altador cup game which was frustrating him. Two major meltdowns in a morning is worse than usual. We decided not to go out to the home ed meet up because M said he was tired and L and I are still chesty. M calmed down a bit after that and we started on this week’s project, which is finding out about ancient civilisations. M picked the topic and I found a few things to do with Mesopotamia for today. I read some stories out of Story of the World and M coloured pictures, found Mesopotamia on the map and various bits, to put together as a poster.

In and among we also had a walk out to the local charity shop, where M got some Star Wars books and I got L a Fisher Price Little People set for £2.25 which is cute but the tunes might be wearing very soon LOL. Then we called in the shop for chocolate biscuits, it was just that kind of a morning.

We spent a long time outside, eating a picnic lunch out there and playing swing ball, and then I did some gardening. L surprised us by blagging some of M’s pepperami stick and chomping away at it. I think most of it got spat out, but he seemed to like the taste.

While I was gardening M amused himself mixing sludge in the leftover ashes of our barbecue.

L was getting more and more tired but every time he was nearly asleep he’d wake back up again. I tried taking him to bed and feeding him off to sleep but he just sat up over and over. While I was trying this M got on with some Miquon maths and picked a page on working out which sum in each pair gave the largest amount - he did them all really well with no fuss so I was really pleased for him. Eventually I took M outside in the sling where he made lots of whingey noises that I just ignored while I pegged out washing and within a few mins he was finally asleep. M played Zoombinis and then we did the last few bits to finish his Mesopotamia poster.

In and among we seem to have had so many phone calls today. The first was from the management company who have the freehold on the house in which I have a flat in Margate. The bloke came across as something of a racist bully boy, insinuating all sorts of things to presumably try and back up his claim that my current tenants are causing a nuisance. Apparently they are making alot of noise and having parties on the stairs, however given he didn’t like them being from Eastern Europe, hadn’t tried to sort it out with them because he thinks they speak no English, implied they were trashing my flat and working illegally, I don’t know how much to believe. Given they’ve been working in the same company in Margate since 2004 I don’t believe they speak no English. So in with everything else today I had to get hold of the property agents I rent the flat out through and ask them to have a word. I can do without it, I hate having the flat but it seems even more work to try and sell it.

Well, at least both boys are now asleep in bed and I’ve got a bit of peace for a short while before I head for bed too.
