Blotchy Baby
Poor little lad. This is how L’s face and neck came up within a few minutes of pinching some of my French toast at lunchtime. The face blotches have gone down now but his neck still has a red rash and he’s scratching and the lymph nodes on the back of his neck are up.
About a week ago L had some small pieces of eggy bread with me for lunch and he had a few faint red patches around his mouth for a short while afterwards. He also became slightly constipated for a few days, but then I thought it might be due to the hot weather.
Today we did alot of baking in the morning and had egg whites left over, so I beat in a whole egg and made myself French toast for lunch to eat them up. L was napping until just as I dished up when he woke up crying and still tired. So I brought him downstairs to sit with me and he helped himself to some of my lunch. He didn’t appear to eat very much of it at all. Within a few minutes the bottom of his face and front of his neck went blotchy and then he started to scratch.

Looks like he might have an egg allergy then. The only other ingredients were bread he must’ve had before, milk (he can eat fromage frais OK) and cinnamon, oh and a dash of maple syrup. Can’t imagine they are very allergenic though.
I tried to dose him up with some antihistamine the doc gave us back in January but he just spat it out. I resorted to a teaspoon of sugar with the medicine to sweeten it and got some more into him, but only by dipping a finger in and smearing it in his mouth. Hate resorting to sugar to do it though.
He’s been eating things with egg as an ingredient fine as far as I can tell, so not sure how much to resrict what he gets.
