London
Not sure quite what possessed me to arrange to meet up with a friend in London on July 7th! The train station and underground all felt safe enough and ran on time with no disruptions though.
S and I were at Cambridge together and were room mates in our second year. S lives in the USA but was over to visit family. We try and meet up when she is over here but the last time was 18 mnoths ago, so it was good to catch up a little bit more. I am terrible at emailing!
We met at the Princess Diana playground in Kensington Gardens, which neither of us had been to before. As we came out of the tube station (where it was sweltering) it started to drizzle - great! Well, at least it cooled the air down a bit and there wasn’t really enough rain to get us terrible wet.
The playground was gorgeous and the children had a wonderful time playing in the pirate ship. We stopped for lunch in the cafe and then went back to play in the sand and water. L joined in too, so was stripped down to T shirt and nappy. He was so full of sand but was desperate to join in woth everyone. M and S’s eldest recruited other children in the playground to construct a water course. They found a metal lid to lift and when they put water in it came out further down the rock, so they begged plastic cups and found a spade from somewhere and spent ages pouring water and organising channels. S and I chatted and tried to watch what the children were doing in that almost conversation but keep having to break off mode mums have.
